Title: Totem armor
Post by: An Angry Fatman on March 19, 2013, 02:34:05 AM
Alright, weird thing happened today which I am not a 100% sure on. In EDH my opponent played a spell on his creature that made me have to block it will all creatures that could block it. So I had to block with my general {Jor keaden} whose metalcraft was in effect, a golem token, and a {blade splicer}. The attacking creature was a 6/6 with double strike who was enchanted with a +4/4 and totem armor. (sorry forgot that cards name) making it a 10/10 double strike

So first strike damage is dealt and my 8/4 general and 6/3 golem deal damage to the attacking creature thus trading out with the 10/10 and totem armor take effect. Would there be any damage done to the {blade splicer} because the creature died in first strike combat? Or would the damage be dealt because the creature survived the firststrike combat because of totem armor?

The damage would still be dealt, as the creature with totem armor never died. Totem armor has a replacement effect. This effect replaces the event of "dying" with "remove all damage from this creature and destroy this enchantment".
