Title: Best place to get sleeves?
Post by: MuggyWuggy on March 15, 2013, 12:28:08 AM
So I bought a card off eBay and it had this amazing sleeve that was green with a pattern of holographic atoms on it. I haven't been able to find these, anyone have a good source for neato sleeves?

Seriously though, I'd say eBay, if not for anything but finding sleeves you want then googling to find a store or dot com that has em

eBay is best. Most of the sleeve vendors have crazy fast shipping. The LGS prices here are usually very fair.

Same here actually. I usually pay about a penny per sleeve extra for the convenience(for some reason that doesn't look right...) of not waiting for shipping.
But I also buy a thousand at a time so I get a discount.

I usually get about 5 boxes of Dragon Shield black every year. Recently switched to KMC Mattes, I love them. I wish they made more colors for my EDH decks.

I use the ultrapro pro matte sleeves red. In the process of sleeving my entire collection. It's getting expensive!

I tried the entire Ultra Pro line, not impressed. I had 3 ultra pro mattes split on a side-shuffle. It dinged up my {Ponder}, luckily that isn't an expensive card. From that day I switched to Dragon Shields on everything, I've never had one split, nor have I ever heard a story about them splitting.

Problem with Dragon Shield is certain colors (Black, Blue, Red and Green) pick up dirt like crazy. Also they're usually always cut to different lengths - so consistency is a problem. They also don't display foils well. They just lose their luster for whatever reason.

The KMC matte's are phenomenal. They shuffle well, they're tough as nails and they display foils the way they're intended. I recently got the KMC Blue Super Metallics for my Modern deck - switching from Ultra-Pro Magic Mana-Blue.

My black lotus sleeves are the best I have had in awhile. The Japanese ones are good too but the black lotus ones have been the best so far.

Yeah, they're the same as the Ultra-Pro Mana-Symbol ones. They're not bad, I have a set of those on a legacy deck, and they're still strong. Unfortunately they begin to stick together, the top gets frayed and they don't last.

I'm not a spokesman for KMC or Dragon Shield, but if you can afford it - try em. Ultra Pros are more popular because of the official Wizards endorsement, and they're cheap.

I keep a crap load of glossy black Ultra Pros on hand. Its easy to change out when a sleeve busts, and I like to keep all of cards in one sleeve color for easy switching action when I want to move cards from one deck to another.

I like this. I just like having different sleeves for different decks. I have a crap load of the clear ones and I think they are super cool. Think I will do this.

Yah its a lot easier. Especially if you tend to always build different decks like I do. Why switch out those shocklands and dual lands from a green sleeve to a purple sleeve when you can just have everything one color?

That's exactly why I'm sleeving my entire collection. Makes deck building so easy, easy to test and switch up. Just all around awesome. Though 10,000 plus sleeves is expensive

I actually thought about sleeving my entire collection, or at least anything I might ever find helpful. But yeah, that can get expensive.

I'd highly recommend it if you have the cash. I'm only have done but it makes organization just that much easier. Had to buy two more 5000ct boxes though, sleeves take up tons of space.

Anyone know of a place to get custom sleeves made?

I looked into it briefly a couple years ago. Found that the only way to do it was to order a whole run of like 10,000 sleeves. The few companies I found on google have to make it worth their while. So unless you want a whole butt load and have tons of money...

Also the custom sleeve guy in the link mentioned in above seems like he will be ready with this project soon @

WHY is it it marketed towards MtG when you have to buy more than one pack just to sleeve up a deck?! They are pretty sweet though.

Yea I'm looking forward to see this project come out swinging. I'm not preordering until I see his FINAL product, but obviously the demand is out there. He got his funding pretty damn quick.
