Title: A Very Weird Deck
Post by: Backstabby1986 on March 11, 2013, 11:45:45 PM

A Very Weird Deck

75 cards, 15 sideboard

10 {Island}

10 lands

4 {Blistercoil Weird}

4 creatures

4 {Thought Scour}
4 {Visions of Beyond}
4 {Twisted Image}
4 {Peek}
4 {Sleight of Hand}
4 {Gitaxian Probe}
4 {Paradise Mantle}
4 {Cerulean Wisps}
4 {Serum Visions}
2 {Grapeshot}
4 {Ideas Unbound}
4 {Manamorphose}

46 other spells

Sideboard

3 {Island}
4 {Fleeting Distraction}
4 {Tormod's Crypt}
4 {Apostle's Blessing}

15 sideboard cards

Notes:
This deck wins by equipping paradise mantle to blistercoil weird and then cycling through the entire deck with cantrips, In the end either hitting with the blistercoil weird for huge massive damage or using grapeshot to get 20 in 1 turn.  Ideally this goes turn one: island, blistercoil weird. Turn 2: to your dead.  Any advice on how to make the combo more reliable?

Awesome deck. Much better than the blistercoil deck I tried to make (I used {quicksilver dagger}...)

I dont quite understand.
Basically all the spells are  1 cost so he taps the coil that is equipped for mana and keep casting until its big enough for the win

not only that, but a lot of the cards have draw a card tacked on, so he doesn't run out of cards to play

Shouldn't you have the pay one red mana get three thingy? Or sol rings to keep boosting?
No because of the lack of cantrips.

This deck is so sweet. What happens when you can't cast Weird though?

There are generally enough cantrips to get to a weird and a mantle.  Also,  {Manamorphose} {Gitaxian Probe}  and {Cerulean Wisps} net a total of one mana each time they're cast.

I've play tested it against several decks with my friends and it was tons of fun to play with.  Once, my friend had a chance to kill the weird with an  {Ulvenwald Tracker} and didn't know it was  part of the combo.  His expression when I got the combo going was priceless

This is an awesome idea! I am gunna try something like this. My only issue is lands. You only have 10 for a 75 card deck. I know you only need one to create the combo but isn't that risking it a little bit? I assume uve had to mulligan with this deck before, but I don't know if I'd want to go past 6 cards for an opening hand.

It's a 60 card deck, the 75 at the top is a bit misleading! 10 lands is perfect because there is nothing worse than drawing into land with this deck. You only need one to be able to combo off, and you realistically can mulligan because if you have one land, the cantrips with fetch you a win con.

I love this deck, as long as you draw blistercoil mantle and an island you pretty much win unless you draw into too many lands from the cantrips.

You didn't make this deck. This is a version of Masatomo Iwayama's Weirdstorm.
