{Argentum Armor} could play well here
{Inkmoth Nexus} or {Darksteel Citadel} would be sweet lands to play also instead of {Silver-Inlaid Dagger} and the trample only block by one creature equipment, {Cranial Plating} would be sweet replacements
You should run 2-3 {Sword of Fire and Ice} to help you draw into answers when you have no tutors. Obviously, you would side out swords for other swords in other matchups, which is a pretty smart sideboard strategy.
Willing to test {Darksteel Citadel}. Frankly it would help with metalcraft. I don't like too much of inkmoth because infect seems way too cheap. Argentum looks pretty cool as a finisher. Sideboard perhaps? Cranial could be useful, Vorrac is the closet thing to unblock able there is for equipments.
{Etched Champion} should also be here.
{Etched Champion} is a great card, don't get me wrong. As a creature, {Geist of Saint Traft} does more in so many more matchups than {Etched Champion}. Even in affinity, it is often sideboarded because {Master of Etherium} is a better card in more matchup.
Fair enough, I guess I started playing competitive when these guys were in their last legs of standard.
Tho I would argue the case for him. Once metal craft is activated, it's pretty much unblockable. If you give him a sword (or two!) it's insane.
I also used to run {Darksteel Juggernaut}s and {Steel Hellkite}s in my artifact deck, so most people spend half their time trying to figure out what to deal with, and you just keep hitting them.. Lol.
Standard is completely different than modern. With {Etched Champion}, you have to depend on metalcraft far too much. Even affinity has its weak ends and doesn't depend on metalcraft, that is why you would use {Dismember} over {Dispatch}. Metalcraft is too irreliable when there is already so much artifact hate sideboarded.
I ran {Steel Hellkite} in Esper Mana Myrs and found it really useful, but going for something that costs 6 mana without it affecting the boardstate when it comes in is just too weak. Atleast with {Batterskull}, it is a threat right already and could be one on more occasions than not.
The swords already hit of the protection from all colors with a great bonus. They are easily searchable with {Steelshaper's Gift}. Easy to draw with either {Puresteel Paladin} or {Dark Confidant}.
With {Dark Confidant} already, you never main board cards that cost more than 4 in my opinion becaus then it becomes too much of a suicide game already. But the extra card advantage is amazing early game. It just forces you to work with lower costing cards.

I completely missed this...
Is {Puresteel Paladin} and {Dark Confidant} not enough for a draw engine without {Steelshaper's Gift}? I might test for that engine. I used to use {Mask of Memory} which was really strong, but I thought that it was just too much turn 5 onward because I kept drawing and had way too much to discard.
