On the bracers when they say "mana ability" are try referring to an ability that makes mana or an ability that costs mana.

Need some clarification here.

A mana ability is an ability that directly produces mana, such as {Llanowar Elves}.

I don't think that would work.  Illusionist bracers says copy.  When you activate his ability you have to choose tap or untap and then do whichever one you chose again.  You would need a way to tap that guy to untap lotus and him.  Am I right?
Its all about timing you resolve first ability then while the copy is on the stack you untap

The only problem with this combo it may be hard to get out three cards and not have any of them removed in standard! And the earliest could be turn 5 to get it all out. But it's a very sweet combo I like it a lot :)

Very splashable!
Only needs 1 blue!
Go Green for ramp.
White for control.
Black for tutoring.
Or just stick with blue for draw draw draw!
Red have some draw and discard cards wich could work well!
