Can someone help me out with getting cockatrice to work?
What do you need help with? What's not working with it?
Move this to digital. If you mean how to log on use the server play.woogerworks.com and register at Woogerworks.com/cockatrice (http://woogerworks.com/cockatrice)
Go to 'Connect' and when the pop-up window appears STOP!! The first line will same something along the lines of 'play.cockatrice.co'(idr exactly what)
In this line, delete everything and type in 'play.woogerworks.com' without the apostrophes(') then press enter. Welcome to woogerworks, the new cockatrice server!
How do I load the sets?
You have to re-download it
Alright thanks
You need the cards.xml file. Wooger is not hosting it so you need to find it on another site or have someone send you it. I have it and can link to it later tonight.
Here is the link to the file:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?i596hyqwm9p3shc
Download that and put it where ever you want to store it. Then open Cockatrice and from the top menu click (Cockatrice->Settings). Then on the general settings section, where it says path to cards database, have it point to where you put the file.

By providing these files you help people do things which WotC wouldn't want to be done to them. True or false?
Not sure how it would be. I'm just providing a file that is a card database. I am not providing a program myself to use it with to play the game. Correct?

True.
Is it true that WotC does't want people to use Cockatrice to play MTG?

Basically. Its a foolish notion, but within their rights. The project is currently shut down in its current form, but the developer has not ceased it permanently. He said just in its current form, so we will see what happens long term.

Is it true that people don't want WotC to ban them from playing MTG on Cockatrice? If yes, who's committing a crime according to iMtG Law?

That is true.
As for the law that's a tough one. Seems both are wrong. Wizards feels you are stealing by using their ideas to play without compensation. Players like myself feel we are just playtesting before we buy new cards. Which doesn't harm wizards, but helps them. If I didn't playtest, I wouldn't spend the money I do on magic.
I can't see the victim in that particular case.
