Ok, got an odd question, is the arcane type considered an instant, sorcery, both or in it's own class?

All arcane cards have instant or sorcery on them, so it's whatever the card says.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the question?

Not really misunderstanding, as there is a card that says x damage, where x equals 2 plus the number of arcane spells in your graveyard.
