Title: Extort ruling in multiplayer
Post by: Ashley623 on February 28, 2013, 05:33:22 AM
When someone activated extort in a multiplayer match each oppents loses life equal to the extort creature that he/she pay the mana for it. My question is does he/she gain the total life points of all oppents lost or just however many life point each oppent lost? And when he/she cast a creature spell with extort, can he/she pay the mana for the creature that s summoning out to activate the extort ability?

They would gain life equal to the total amount if all life lost by opponents. So if they extort once, against 3 opponents, each opponent would lose 1 life, and they would gain 3. When a creature with extort is played, you cannot use that creatures extort ability for its own summoning. There has to already be a permanent with extort on the battlefield. Keep in mind, also, that you can only extort once per spell for each permanent you control with extort.

Question on extort, you announce you are extorting before you cast a spell or after you cast?
When you cast the spell, and it is still on the stack.
