Jesters mask is probably the best but lifes finale will work if i make lazav indestructible.

Of course you could just make the critter untargetabble by equipping it with a {whispersilk cloak} and drop a {darksteel forge} to make your artifacts indestructable...
Whispersilk wont protect lazav from {Lifes finale} however. But its already in there anyways. ;D

Except you can turn the hellkite into an artifact and nab it before it can do combat damage

Why not both? With the mask, you can choose more than three cards (if they have a good size hand) then use a card which forces them to discard their hand, then use the cap to ditch three more cards...
