If you return this to your hand and recast do you still have the imprint? Can you pick a new target and if so, do you still have the other imprint?

No. When it re-enters the battlefield, it does as an entirely new object with no memory of its prior self.

This. The card would be treated as it was when you first cast it. Nothing imprinted on it, ready for a "new" imprinting.
