Title: DC30(Modern): DIY Infinite Proliferate
Post by: BlackJester on February 13, 2012, 12:58:14 AM
While the poll is still running it's course, I will carry on with the tradition today, by giving you this Modern combo.  Well, if you think about it, it's actually three different combos, but they are three ways to get to the same place:

{Viridian Joiner} + {Gilder Bairn} + {Experimental Kraj}/{Necrotic Ooze}/my new buddy {Havengul Lich} = Infinite Proliferate (sort of)

Okay, so into a bar walk an Ooze, an Elf and an...Ouphe? *I looked up ouphe in the Free Online Dictionary and got:
Ouphe : A fairy; a goblin; an elf.  So does this thing really count as all three creature types?*

Let's say you had the Elf, Ouphe, and Kraj in play (all in UG) and they all had +1/+1 counters giving Kraj both abilities.
-Tap Kraj for GGGG
-Pay GGG to "proliferate" one permanent (no you can't poison your enemies into oblivion :( )
-Net one G and repeat.

Now, the other two creatures would work the same way, but the {Necrotic Ooze} has the advantage of being cheap and using the abilities from all gy, and that the other combo pieces can be kept safe in the tomb.

Just add something that wants counters:
Planeswalkers -  good place to start
Pumping up +1/+1 counters - a little pedantic, but easy
{Triskelion} - direct damage is always nice
{Magistrate's Scepter} - Nothing says domination quite like never letting your opponent(s) play for the rest of the game.   ;D

Can you think of any other good permanents to use?
