Title: Cards to keep
Post by: Malachiracer on February 12, 2013, 01:51:27 PM
Any ideas of cards that could cost over $500 in the near future?
5 to 10 years

Probably nothing beyond what's already that much or more.

I do like the idea of everyone posting what they think are sleepers that'll jump in price later on.  Maybe not $500, but a $0.50 "jank" rare that you think will jump to maybe $20-$30

Nothing printed today will be included into the "Reserve List". It's unlikely anything in a modern frame will fetch $500. They're reprinting {Tarmogoyf}, and it's probable that they'll reprint {Dark Confidant}, {Vendilion Clique} and the fetchlands in Modern Masters 2.

Once {Snapcaster Mage} rotates his price will stabilize then go up, {Jace, the Mind Sculptor} is rumored to be unbanned in Modern and get a reprint - otherwise he'll be a $200 card in no time.

I guess that will mostly depend on how well newly released cards synergize with old mechanics. The bazaar was always good, but with new cards and new abilities like "miracle", it's utility skyrockets. Mix that with availability (actual rarity) and the price just takes off...

Cards that I think will be $80 and above from Return to Ravnica are Abrup Decay and Deathrite Shaman.

I'm not sure if Ravnica Cards will be worth that much since they printed so much of Ravnica

Cards in standards that I'm holding on to

Obviously all of the shock lands
{Snapcaster Mage}
{Deathrite Shaman}
{Liliana of the Veil}
{Delver of Secrets} obviously he is a common and won't get too high but I'm still going to sit on mine until its a $2 to $3 card
{Abrupt Decay}

I don't expect any of these cards to get even close to $500 lol but I believe they will maintain their value and go up in price after time.

{Deathrite Shaman} and  {Snapcaster Mage} will both be worth $50 some day, unless they start reprinting things... Which is a very distinct possibility....

Modern Masters may just come around every year.

Crap I just traded my Deathrite away... It was going down, so I thought it would stay that way :(

{Deathrite Shaman} is arguably the greats 1 drop ever printed....
I remember when  {Savannah Lions} was the best 1 drop ever
