Title: Gatecrash worth buying?
Post by: Isaisantana on February 07, 2013, 05:54:47 PM
Is gatecrash even worth buying a box of? I'm a standard player and I notice some of the rares are weak. I haven't gotten a chance to go through the commons or uncommons. I know dual lands are worth it but how about the finishers?

Yes but if you had to choose pick core set!!! You get more cards that are big money out of it

Core sets not bad, but Avacyn still has the most cards over 10 bucks, not to mention many other good cards between 3-10 bucks.

Name more then 4 cards in core set that are worth of picking... There is nothing good moneywise except  {Thragtusk}, {Thundermaw Hellkite},  {Sublime Archangel} and possibly I forgot something...

Honestly best box to buy now is Innistrad in my opinion...;)

I totally forgot about avacyn restored ahaha but I would either get avacyn or core set but if you want gatecrash get it because it is still a lot of fun opening pack and seeing what you get :)

With {Geist of Saint Traft}, {Snapcaster Mage}, and enemy lands, Innistrad is another good buy.
Garruk and Liliana as well

But I like core set. 5 planeswalkers titans( I think lolz) thrag tusk thundermaw and many others but he/she is asking if it is worth buying gatecrash and I say in some standpoints

Mhmm planeswalkers in coreset are fine only they are not played that much except of Jace and Garruk... Not that Lilly would not be nice but the Inni version is way better...;)

For value: INN > RTR > GTC/M13

I think more or less that's how it is.

Edit: oh and whatever you do, don't get dark ascension! Haha

Id say RtR > IN > GTC > M13

Besides the shocks, INN seems to have better rares and mythics than RTR. And the enemy duals are sometimes just the same price as the shocks right?

Here's why Avacyn:  {Avacyn, Angel of Hope} {Bonfire of the Damned} {Cavern of Souls} {Craterhoof Behemoth} {Entreat the Angels} {Gisela, Blade of Goldnight} {Griselbrand} {Restoration Angel} {Silverblade Paladin} {Sigarda, Host of Herons} {Vexing Devil} {Tamiyo, the Moon Sage} {Terminus} {Temporal Mastery}

Not to mention there are a bunch of other useful cards and  {Blood Artist} is a great uncommon. Just remember you can always trade away what you don't want:)

Only the GTC aligned Enemy Duals are up right now, same thing that happened with {Sulfur Falls} and {Woodland Cemetery} when RTR dropped, they'll go back down soon, but for now they are very very nice to have, especially if you're trading them away.

Run run run as fast as you can from Gatecrash. The allure of the Shocklands is not enough to make up for the playset of {Assemble the Legion} or {Rubblebelt Raiders}. There are so many junk rares in this set, that with the exception of the shocks and a few mythics - you could buy every card in the set for $100.

Listen to this man. Do some sample boosters of GTC with this app, see how often you pull a junk rare like the ones he mentioned, or one of the prerelease promos, or one of the Primordials cycle, or any of the other junk stuff. Dragon's Maze better be awesome, because the only cards I've been able to find uses for in Gatecrash are the charms and {Skullcrack}. Not including mythics because most of them are good in this set.

Of course u r right but after rotation those cards will have 30 percent of their value... Except of caverns that will have 50%... And take a look on cards in Inni... Snappy and Lilly are played towards all formats their value will be the same or bigger...;) and there is a lot of other cards of same or similar value as in Avacyn...;) of course it is only matter of point of view... Besides for example enemy lands that are colors of gtc are almost more expensive than shocklands....:D
