I need help figuring a 5 -color mana base for edh, but I didn't think it belonged in the edh section, so I put it here. I currently have all of the shock lands, the vivids, the guild gates, and the ravnica ones that you tap for 2 mana at a time. This I have a feeling will be not only ineffective, but incredibly expensive. I don't want to spend that much and need options. I have a few other lands for color fixing, but I need to totally revamp the mana base for both cost and effectiveness. The edh deck is posted and has the general of progenitus .
{Command tower}
{Gemstone Caverns}
{Crystal Quarry}
{terramorphic expanse} {evolving wilds} {rampant growth} {harrow} {solemn simulacrum}
Personally i put in a majority of forests when im looking for cheap mana fixing, and use basic land search to find other colors.. It works pretty well, but also takes a lot of room for ramp. Then again, it also puts you ahead mana-wise. Majority green with {birds of paradise} is a lifesaver. {Prophetic Prism} {azorius keyrune} and other keyrunes, {springleaf drum} all are solid cheap mana fixers. There are a million ways to do it cheaply, however you will be sacrificing quality to a degree no matter what. Hope this helpsthough!
If nonstandard - {Dream Halls}
It can be risky, but you can get {Progenitus} out for a measly {Scryb Sprites}
I figure with a 5 color deck, have power cards and cards that cost nothing so you don't get stuck with a hand you can't play
