Title: Resolving
Post by: BadLuckIrish on February 08, 2012, 04:13:54 PM
When you put card down that has a "when this card enters the battlefield" like {phyrexian Ingestor} does it effect happen when it is a blue spell or a creature? My friends talking about a card having "cant be targeted by color spell" but since it would be a creature spell could i exile it?

The fact that it has the word "When" means that it is already on the battlefield, thus not a spell anymore.

The card has protection from colored spells({emrakul}) or blue spells? If so, you can exile. Protection from blue, though, includes the creature

No prob, I know how you feel. Trust me when I say length of time playing =/= understanding of rules.

Show him rule 111.1(easy to remember uh?) It specifies what is a spell, and then says it stops being a spell when it leaves the stack. Well, if your creature entered the battlefield, it isn't in the stack. So it's not a spell anymore. So {Emrakul, Aeons Thorn} DOESN'T have protection against it (unless, of course if it got hexproof, protection from creatures, protection from blue, shroud or any other way to prevent that target anyhow). He can argue about rules sources (people who talk about the rules) but not with the rule itself. Also read the emrakul's ruling that starts with "emrakul may be targeted..."(if you don't have rulings in app, check gatherer). Hope that will convince him

You can tell him that I have passed the Rules Advisor exam from DCI. I'm debating challenging the lvl 1 exam. But the best way is to point at the actual rule itself. ;)
Usually questions about a card can be answered in the card rules itself. In this very app no less.

Yeah, do it! That would be an awesome accomplishment.

Up here in the frozen wastelands it's a challenge to organize a test. Also, i'd have to learn all the rules for officiating, which bores me.  Then if I do get it, people at prereleases might expect me to be judge and really I just want to play.

I'm thinking about it, but it's low on my list. 😉

they wanting you to be a judge doesnt mean you have to be. But you could be a time or another, in exchange for some boosters maybe. And you would get authority

Yes you could wave your hand and be like "You will end your turn now".
