Title: Bad Judges?
Post by: Coffee Vampire on January 27, 2013, 08:10:31 PM
So I keep hearing about "judges" making bad calls. What's that all about? I thought it was very hard to even become a level 1. So...I am confused about allthese stories. Anyone have any bad judge stories to share? Spill the beans!

Heh. No excuses! Judges should be flawless in preformance...it is when they study and practice that they make shameless mistakes!

That was a half joke btw! I know we are all human, (well... ;)) but I think when a judge makes a bad call, and someone points out that he or she is wrong, any judge would see the error and admit it.

I think all the people on this app who answer rules questions should be judges. I'm looking at you, gorzo, kale, testset, keyeto blah blah blah! I think you guys would make great judges and you should go for it!

I have not actually ever needed a judge. The few times something weird hallened at FNM we just asked the players next to us for comfirmation. Though I only go to FNM. No high level stuff. Someday.....

I plan on taking the L1 test soon. One of my friends recently did and passed, and is also recommending that I do it. I doubt I'll ever go beyond that though, I don't know if I'd want to actually judge at large events. The promos do make it tempting though.

Thanks for the shout out there! I've been/seen enough "CV'd" cases to say the same to you! I have been considering the test(s) to judge. Perhaps in the near future. But I agree, if a player points out a bad call, the judge should recognize they were incorrect, and correct themselves. I know there have been a few times on here I have misspoken, and was corrected, and its just part of the learning experience! Sometimes you just need a little reminder (or should stop answering rules right when you wake up 😆).
