Title: A sad day to be a gamer...
Post by: InfinitiveDivinity on January 25, 2013, 03:31:23 PM
Today is a very sad day to be a true gamer. The Developer THQ has gone under, with no hope of recovery. Many of the assets have been sold off and all employees laid off. This sucks, but in all honesty I'm mostly concerned with the future of Metro and Darksiders. Metro was a very unique game that holds a weird place for me, it reminds me of a good time in my life and truthfully it was a really cool concept. The next one is due to come out soon under a new dev., but as for the third, we'll see if any major changes are made.

The latter game, is what mainly hurts me. Darksiders, oh my baby... This is one of my favorite games from this generation. I have so much respect for Vigil, they were in the top three of my favorite game developers that I would like to work for. They sadly have yet to be snatched up by anybody, which completely stupefies me, Darksiders II did great in the reviews and reception. It seems like any companies interested are only willing to pay pennies, which pisses me off. Vigil makes quality games, and just because it isn't Call of Duty they're being treated like dirt. Regardless, I hope a good developer (Feck off Activision) grabs Vigil and allows them the freedom to continue Darksiders on THEIR terms. Here's to hoping...

Either way, all that I know is that this sucks, and if Vigil does die, I will make it a personal goal to resurrect this great game once I've finished my schooling, with the original devs. Godspeed Vigil, and farewell THQ, a tip of the hat to you and yours.

If Metro: Last Light is messed up, there will be hell to pay.  Metro 2033 was one of my all time favorite games just because it seemed unique and it was just a blast to play.  It would suck so much if Last Light is horrible.

Metro: Last Light was near completion when THQ sold 'em off, it will still be released and I highly doubt much will change, I'm just worried for any future products.

That's what I thought, which brings hope lol.  From what I've seen, Last Light has a lot of little innovations (i.e shooting kettles to put out fires, etc) and I really hope they continue to add little things like that.  The new company (can't remember the name -_-) has the potential to really take off with this.  I agree, I hope they really don't mess it up.

There was a game in development that I can't remember the name of that sold for like, $11M.  I'm interested to see what is going on there.

Well it's through steam. So I think I'm ok. They've never failed me.
Well they just switched production companies, I think the game will still come out

It does pain me greatly to see this happening to Darksiders. I loved the first one, and the second one was even better. Certainly one of my favorite games to come out recently. It's sad to see this happen.

I recently met a guy who worked at blizzard around the ghost time. He worked on Warcraft stuff but he got to play ghost. He said it was done except multiplayer numbers balancing (like Zerg being too fast) before they scrapped it. I told him if he still has friends there to pass on the suggestion to release it as an Xbox live style arcade game! I'd buy it!

I hope someone picks up Vigil games but they aren't gone yet. They did a finally picture for Darksiders 2 release on Wii U and I know there are some LoZ fans, like myself, on here.
