Title: Daze
Post by: izik99 on January 25, 2013, 09:10:30 AM
If you used {Daze} to counter something and put an Island in your hand, would this still allow you to sacrifice that Island for another card and then return it before it goes to the graveyard?

Example: {Dreamscape Artist} sac the Island, then play Daze (returning an Island instead of mana) to, lets say, counter a kill spell from the opponent, then I choose to return the Island that is being sacced.

It's a cost and effect issue.  In order to go fetch the two lands you have to sac a land and discard a card.  Also while in the middle of that process you can't use the counter spell in order to return the land you're about to sac.  You can't 'save' the land that way, so after you activate the creatures ability not even you're opponent can target the land you're going to sacrifice. It's kind of like {birthing pod}. Opponent can't target the creature you're going to sac to the pod.

Good answer +1
You have to pay to do things (resource management is what makes this game better than certain other card games). If you walk into walmart to buy a TV and at the check out stand you show them the money and then run to a different walmart and show them the same money to buy a game system to go with your tv, I guarantee you'll only walk out with the one you actually paid for.

Thats how I learned to think of cost : effect

Lol this is the better answer I've wanted to incorporate real life examples to make the answer easier to understand but I end up going with the professional one.
