Title: Sphinx of the Chimes
Post by: La_Jungla on January 20, 2013, 11:11:36 AM
So, another card-specifik question. Let's see if I can do this link-thing. It's conserning {Sphinx of the Chimes}. It says "Discard two nonland cards with the same name: Draw four cards". So I suppose that I can't "deploy" this guy if I don't have two identical non-land cards? Can these be discarded from the battlefield too or does it have to be from the hand? Can i discard one from the hand and one from the battlefield? I'm guessing that you use him with a deck that produces 1/1 tokens?

You can still cast him as normal for his mana cost. The discard ability is only for the effect of drawing 4 cards, and they must be discarded from your hand.

Do I have to discard two identical cards if I have them? Even if I don't want to?

You may discard two identical cards, but it is not a requirement. If you would like 2 cards versus 4.. Thats your choice, but 4>2
