We play hybrid mana as part of our house rules. It really doesn't make any sense why you couldn't do it. Hybrid mana cards are not gold cards, it's just a different way to pay for the card as though it were mono colored.

But alas, it tis illegal in formal commander rules. You are encouraged to make house rules as a commander player. As in "Generals are not susceptible to the Legendary Rule" and "Infect is dumb and stupid."

We raise infect to 20. Make it half your starting life total. Still dumb but not as bad.
