Title: Life
Post by: Halifaxmtg on January 14, 2013, 11:56:07 AM
I want to know about the other mtg players out there, age? What do you do for work? Married?
I'm 25 and just getting back into mtg, I work at a bank, and my girlfriend is already with holding sex because she doesn't like the idea of me playing again.
What about you?

17, Junior in HS, been playing MTG almost a year, not married. I work at a museum in my hometown and enjoy it. Looking forward to the future and I'm hoping to go to Vanderbilt Univ or Hanover College after I graduate.

Im 24, married, substitute teacher and part time bike builder. My wife has had the flu for a week and a half, causing us to not be able to be....intimate. Which is torture for a 24 year old. Started playing MtG at 12 and stopped around the time of Mirrodin (original.) Started playing again in June and love it even more than I did when i first played years ago.

I'm 24, married, and have a 1 year old daughter. Been playing magic a little over a year. I work at a plastic manufacturing plant. With the family and long hours at work I take advantage of mtg time :) My wife doesn't play magic but supports me in it. My daughter love magic cards. They taste great to her haha. She hasn't eaten any good cards though :P

16, been playing for 10 years now, mostly collected as a kid when Mirrodin kicked off. Only started getting into the competitive game a few years ago, people at my bad LGS know me for my unique deck brews and unorthodox play-style. :D
I'm in highschool, exams are going on this week which sucks.
I'm Irish and I fence for Ireland, but I live in the US. That's about it, really.

I'm 33, married going on 10 years, 2 kids, currently finishing an advanced degree in Medical Science. Started playing Magic in Alpha, quit around Weatherlight, sold all my cards for a song (song compared to current value and even for then), started up again casually around Scars block. My wife doesn't get mad about me playing or "withholding". :) Yep, life is good.

I'm 24, not married. Kinda worried now that all the other people on here are married that are my age. Lmao. I'm a special education teacher for 8th grade in Brooklyn NY. I have a girlfriend for over 3 years and hopefully plan to put a ring on her finger in the next year or so. I am competitive amongst my friends when it comes to MTG but never play at LGS or tournaments. I'm a home brew deck player and mostly build theme decks. Don't care much if they win, as long as the strategy or purpose of the deck works. At one point, I had over 50+ decks but have slowly taken them apart. Unfortunately, my crazy imagination is never ending so I have gotten back up to about 30 decks. My girlfriend doesn't support magic ie buying me stuff, but she realizes that it's part of my life and doesn't bug me about it. And she can't really withhold what isn't there ( we want to wait til marriage). Though I do buy alot of cards, I am more of a surprise person so I don't buy playsets, I'm boosters all the way. Always have been. Always will be. My first starting set was torment or apocalypse. Can't remember which one because at that time, I only bought the cards because they looked bad ass.

My wife didnt like it at first. I had to explain it to her that its basically Narnia or LotR in card form (shes a huge fan of both) and that its not going to cause me to turn into a devil worshipper or anything like that. My lunatic brother-in-law, on the other hand, thinks im going to hell because of it.

I'm 15, 16 on March 26 :D I've been playing magic for about 6-8 months, it all started when my best friends brother got kicked out and we found his old cards. I'm a sophmore in High school and I'm not married, however My girlfriend and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary on April 30th(: she is cool with my nerdiness, she claims it turns her on so all the more reason to love magic! Yes we have had sex, we waited until after our 1 year however. I plan on going to MMI or MIA for graphic or video game design, however I think it would amazing to design magic cards. Yeah that's me... Oh and I used to play baseball until I threw out my shoulder... :P

Once I put it into perspective for her, she started to support it. I asked her if shed rather me play Magic, or hang out in bars all the time like all my friends or her friebd's husbands. She was even willing to learn it so we'd have something else to do together, but it didnt interest her. But she tried and that meant a lot to me.

I'm 17, I play lacrosse.  Started playing magic 6-7 months ago. I first heard about magic from collecting baseball cards (which I now no longer do:)) I have never had a girl friend, not because I play magic, but mostly because I have so much school and such that I just don't care. Still living the free life😎

29, police officer, and I have been playing magic on and off since '93 when the game came out, all my friends think I'm nuts for actually playing a deck comprised of alpha an beta cards, but I like the nostalgia, other than that been in the military for over a decade.

31, male, Australia and single.
I moved away from the town where all my friends are for work, so I'm still single with not many prospects. Lol
I work for HP doing field services IT stuff.
Started playing casually in 2010 and only started competitive play in late 2011. It's actually quite expensive to buy cards here so the play groups aren't huge. I live in a large regional town and there is only one Fnm place. We usually get between 8 and 15 people. Pre-releases usually bring a few more.

34 married for 12 years, 3 kids. I'm the Technical Director for a regional theatre in Canada. Started playing in 1993, stopped in '96 picked it up again when Innistrad came out. Mostly play with the 3 other people who I work with that play. I am usually working Friday nights so no FNM for me. Occasionally get together for multiplayer games of up to seven. Usually play casual but keep my decks close to or standard so I can go to FNM on the off chance I get a Friday off. My wife is very supportive of my geek habits and I support her quilting. She's also a comic collector so she kinda gets the geek thing.

I'm 25 years old, been married for four. We have a seven month old baby girl. Collected magic cards when I was a kid, started collecting again recently and just got into playing. My wife fully supports my hobby, it's a lot cheaper then modifying cars. She even buys me booster packs every trip to Walmart. I'm an automotive tech for Chrysler and I live in Tallahassee fl

21, in college. Gf of 3 years thinks it's pretty nerdy, but tried playing with me- I taught her the rules and she even built an angel deck. (taking all my white mythics in the process, ha!)

I play casually and really enjoy the collecting aspect in addition almost always buying boosters for the luck factor. I started at Eldrazi, after years of watching my friends play it.

18 in a few days and I just graduated high school. Now on to bigger and better. Oh, and responsibilities and stuff. I've been working with my dad in our lawncare business. Basically, the duplexes on our street look like  so we started a lawn care business and tried to make the place look better. And of course we are doing more properties now. However, that's not a horribly dependable income, so I'll be looking for a part time job soon.
Been single for a couple years now, and really not minding it. Went to a small school and quickly realized that many of the girls there were two faced and not worth the time. Or just flat out stupid :P.
I started magic just a little after the release of RoE, but just started playing competitively in the last 6 months or so. Haven't really found my niche decktype yet, so I'm generally building several decks at a time, and never finishing any of them lol.

Oh, and apparently I like to talk about myself on forums :P

15 sophomore in highschool Northeast Ohio who has been playing magic for about 2-4 months. Started during my third term in school because everyone at my school does and I wanted to make some friends after having just switched schools this year (they try to play magic I should say ;). They don't understand the more intricate mechanics as some of you know from my posts but it gives us stuff to do during free periods and lunch) I'm single but it's highschool so whatever. I mostly play video games (Zelda and any great adventures are A OK in my book) but Magic brings back all the nostalgia of growing up in a Yu-Gi-Oh! Household and introduces me to something more fun although Yu-Gi-Oh! Will always be there ;). With the added bonus of now having an awesome supportive community to help me get on my feet so to speak play wise. I love this app and spend about 2-3 hours total on it a day with constant checking for updated posts and such. Love the people who play magic and everyone who's out there helping the newer players. Now thanks for sitting through this long post! Thank you everyone!

I'm 20 and married.  I am currently unemployed, but my husband just got a job for the local school district.  We live with his parents currently which is horrible because there are six people, seven when his sister is mad at her roommates, and a dog living in this three bedroom house.  We want to move from the Dallas area to either Roswell or Charleston, but without money, neither is falling into place.  My parents don't speak to me because my husband and I eloped, but my sister is talking to me finally.  I want to go back to college an finish my degree, but again no money.  I was introduced to magic by my college buddies, but I didn't start playing until RTR.
Where do u play at fnm, I live in Dallas also

Comic Asylum
You know what I might come there on Friday,
If you see 2 that are around 12-13 and one plays selesnya and one plays either jund, junk rites, or gruul aggro

Mhmm 30 yrs old here...:)

I had tarted with Revised, then quit with Mercadian Masques Block... Circumstances dragged me back to this madness again last year in October...:)

I am happily married with wonderful woman who supports me in my craziness , so far we have no children; my profession is Quality engineer in automotive.

14 lh middle school. Not working but over the summer I'm gonna maybe be a trainee for Dairy Queen. Started playin when return o ravnica came out. I love the game but none of my brothers are gamers so :( but I love to trade just to see all the cards there are in magic!!! If someone would like to trade I usually would like for you I send first but once I get the cards I send em right away :)

Absolutely, positively NOBODY trade with {all-mana-mania} without HIM sending first. He is a kid who scammed many many people in the past. He did reconcile most people, but now he is saying that he wants others to send to him first. Sounds like he is up to no good again.

{All-Mana-Mania} IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!

I'm 18 and working for my dad. We travel along the west cost repairing tile at peet's coffee shops. I'm going to get a job as a corrections officer in the future, but for now I'm happy working for the family. No girlfriend(and not for lack of trying :( ). I started playing between gatecrash and m14, so fairly newish kinda. Looking forward to more great years playing magic.

I've learned if you try looking you'll never get one sadly.
I gave up looking and a few weeks later met my fiancée :3 funny enough it was at Perkins restaraunt when we both worked there. Lol
I've been playing since 7th/odyssey. I love mtg and will play for another 60 years lol. I might be 81 but I'll still be playing
