Now am i Crazy or would it be a good idea to have a pop up that shows why you give someone negative karma? Just so they oknow what they did wrong. You could keep that anonymous or even just have multiple people be able to confirm or deny the Karma rating choice,
like if i Gave someone -1 karma it would ask me why, so I would write something like "cards arrived 4 weeks after trade was confirmed, and cards arrived in bad condition." than that comment would either
A. Show up in his inbox saying something like; "Anonymous gave you -1 karma, they also said (insert written comment here)."
Or
B. the message goes through a moderator, than they confirm or deny if it is a valid reason.
Just a thought let me know what you think!
Maybe.
I certainly would like to know why people gave me negitive karma so I can improve. I second this idea. Not that this had any impact on descison making

You don't need a log for that. Just stop writing things people don't like.
I'm serious ;)

Knowing who gives you +karma can turn into a love fest. Oh he gave me +karma ill give some back and it keeps repeating.
Yup, and it would be even worse with bad karma.

Spamming and jibberish? Things that dont really add to the topic, or don't matter in any way? And thanks for giving a reason why you reduced my karma. +1 for you
I was just using an example of what people would post if they had to post a reason.
I don't think I have given or taken karma from another member.
Oh. Oops. Well, free karma. Lol
Personally I feel it might be a good idea to let the user being karma-'d see which post was tagged. Not who tagged it.
But if you could see "you've gotten 2 negative karma from this post," or "you've gotten 1 posive karma from this post," or "you've gotten 1 negative and 3 positive karma from this post," you could look at the post and learn from it.
"Oh, posting stupid dribble like this got me negative karma? I shouldn't make these types of posts anymore!"
"Posting this insightful opinion and/or witty banter got me positive karma! Not only do I feel good knowing people liked what I had to say, but I'm encouraged to contribute positively like this more often!"
(That's totally what people think to themselves)

Nailed it! This is a great idea.
Yes, I like this one.
From now on karma is being logged (standard SMF on which Gathering is built doesn't log karma). I'll add UI sometime in the future.
