So I started playing magic w some friends and my wife about a year ago. I became obsessed w it and surpassed the skills of my wife. She now doesn't really want to play very much because of this. I'm curious to see if anyone has any good deck ideas that might get her interested in magic again. She likes pretty straight forward/basic decks. Any ideas?
If she's the evil type, mono black control can be a good basic type to play. Yes it is control, but it doesn't deal with stack manipulation much...it is very straightforward; "kill your guy", "discard your card" "you lose life", etc.
Although its not exactly basic, and involves knowing when to play what, I've been having a ton of fun playing frites in the past two months.
Frites is indeed a blast to play.

Red/Black aggro is as simple as it comes. Just smash your face into them and keep going.
I agree 100% that is the most straight forward deck right now, and it is very effective.

I was in the same boat with my wife so I made a uncubed (unhinged/glued) 150 cards C&U it changed up the pace enough the she started to want to play again only cost $30 total
BR or GW pretty much the two basic decks that are good.
Thanks for the brainstorming, I think I might try all of the suggested and see which one she likes best. I'm really looking forward to gatecrash, I think she will enjoy a boros aggro deck.
