Title: Attacking, Blocking, Declare as Blocked
Post by: BrosEler123 on January 11, 2013, 06:35:07 PM
I swung in with a  {Strangleroot Geist} with 6 +1/+1 counters and he blockes with a creature like  {Loxodon Smiter} but then I unsummon the smiter. Does the damage go through?

Is there any way to get around it?

I have found this interesting too. I believe it has something to do with timing.
I base this argument on my time playing DotP (current one).

I have removed (by both unsummoning and destroy effects) during the blocking phase (but before the end of the blocking phase) and my creature has resumed it's original attack at the person. Now if I wait till the resolution of the blocking phase and remove it at the damage phase no damage was done to eithe creature but the damage did not go through.

I was of the belief that your answer was the case, but I've been proven wrong by this game a few times, so I've learned to question things a little harder until I have a better grasp on things.
Still learning the intricacies of this game after 3 years of almost solid play. I've learned I've been wrong many times.

I dunno then. I'll try and take a video of it and email it to you if you want. :/
All I can say is my creature wasn't getting through, and then it was...

Right. And according to the rules in DotP that's the right way to do it.
According to the M:TG rules, that's not the right way to do it.
