Title: Aggro mono-blue
Post by: Birdbrain on January 11, 2013, 09:25:04 AM
What would it look like?

Maybe lots of flyers and draw. And {frost burn weird} since he can deal 3 damage realitivly safely. And can even deal 4 damage

Edit: and maybe that one shapeshifter that can be a 3/3, a 2/2 with flying, or a 1/6 defender. And quite possibly flyers with the new evolve mechanic.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Aggro blue is serpents, krakens, leviathans, and islandwalk creatures.  {Spreading Seas} and then attack like crazy.

Lmao. It is. But when I think if mono blue Aggro, I think big creatures. What's bigger in blue than leviathans?!? Lol. You could have flyer Aggro but blue flyers tend to be one of two things: 1) cheap weenies or 2) expensive bottom heavy ability abusers.

Aggro likes top heavy or even. Flyers don't tend to be top heavy unless they are weak and cheap.

You also can't rely on buffs. The creatures got to be meaty to begin with.

My thoughts to a T. When I think blue aggro (especially mono blue) i think already big creatures. Unless you want to go UG, which isn't what you're trying to do.

Those are a few examples but how do you buff those going mono blue? You don't.  Favorable winds is only one card. You would need to add removal for it to viable without adding big berthas.

What about adding draw to keep the threats coming?

{Sunken City}, {Coat of Arms}, {Gravitational Shift}, {Caged Sun}, {Glen Elendra Liege}, {Mindwrack Liege}, {Murkfiend Liege}, {Thistledown Liege}, {Adaptive Automaton}, {Gauntlet of Power}, {Grand Architect}.

Have I missed any? 😜

😑 You're a meanie. I'm telling my mommy on you!!!!

Point is, I still think that big berthas and islandwalk is more Aggro.

I think I'm going to go with lots of smaller creatures. Some mid-range creatures. And one or two late game finishers

To each, his own.

Besides, you would really need make a perfect build for blue fattys. I had one back in zendikar but that slowly flatlined with faster sets coming out.

Why didn't you add more from the newer sets?
