Title: Cipher, Keyrunes
Post by: Fenster on January 11, 2013, 06:05:02 AM
So will ciphers disappear if placed on a keyrune?

After trying to find an official ruling, I've stumbled upon this:

"The spell will not fall of a keyrune when it stops being animated.

Source: Matt Tabak (Rules Manager) on Twitter"

Also, on a similar effect:

From the Comprehensive Rules
"702.53b Cards that are in the exile zone as the result of a haunt ability "haunt" the creature targeted by that ability. The phrase "creature it haunts" refers to the object targeted by the haunt ability, regardless of whether or not that object is still a creature."

For these reasons, I believe Cipher will remain on the keyrune even after it stops to be a creature, however, I have been unable to find an official ruling. The listed reasons seem good enough for me to believe they would stay.

It would've been good if there was a more official answer. As good as your answer is I'm not sure it would hold up in a game/tournament. :/

Yeah, but its the best I can do until official rulings are released. Hopefully we'll get them soon.
