Title: Mana stats
Post by: Raven316 on January 09, 2013, 09:20:35 AM
I was wondering if you can integrate mana production by lands in the app I often use dual lands and play 5 colors and always trying to calculate the best mana producing combination for my deck thanks

Basically like we have the mana symbol count for the deck I would like to have the same but for mana aka if you have 23 forests in a deck u have 23 mana available however if u have a 21 forests and 2 {taiga} then u have 23 forests(or green) and 2 mountains(or red) ect.. That is strait forward but gets complicated when there are more colors so the first thing I do is see the stats for mana symbols and the go accordingly ratio wise for the mana I would need but constantly count as I adjust the mana distribution let me know if my idea is clear

I would love for you to do this ... Before imtg I would build decks on a spreadsheet and I had a section where I would calculate the mana and mana cost no crazy formulas but very effective but once I got into the apple world and imtg I stopped using my pc since I'm always on the iPad or iPhone .... This concept/idea is in my opinion something that every ody needs a real tool for building decks and YOU can be the first to implement it ... Let me know if I need to do more "sucking up" to get it approved and integrated in imtg... ;)

It seems to require significant database infrastructure update and not gonna happe too soon.

I'm not a programmer and do not claim to know everything but can't u write a simple program where it just checks Lands and color it produces all this perhaps under deck so there isn't any crazy resources required so as you add mana to your deck it automatically calculates the mana production... Am I completely off ?

You're not completely off, but parser like that is probably not gonna be 100% accurate, and some manual adjustments to the database will be required. I'm working on crowdsourced version of magiccards which will be hosted here and updated by users, wiki-like.

You want to have that in addition to current databases or do u want to eliminate our current database?

One database to rule them all.
