Title: Blasphemy
Post by: Double-O-Scotch on January 08, 2013, 05:18:50 PM
Would you call coloring in a white border card so it LOOKS black, blasphemy? My buddy colored in the border of his revised demonic tutor and now my girlfriend wants me to colour in the border of her 6th edition mystical tutor... I told her I can't cause of the rules, but is there actually a rule? Or am I just a purist?

I like the idea simply because the white borders annoy me, but as for legality in tournaments and such, I've got no idea.

I hate having 59 black bordered cards and drawing this one white bordered card and thinking "Wtf is this ?!?"

Trade it straight up for the black border version. She's happy, you're happy, everyone wins. Plus, when she decides she doesn't want it anymore (because that's how women are,) she won't be stuck with a valueless piece of cardboard.

The ONLY time I've ever seen people really do this is for valuable old cards. Take the Revised Dual lands. If you color in the white borders well, they could pass as Unlimited duals, which are worth significantly more. Don't do it with money cards, and DON'T do it to cards you could trade away, they become valueless.

Ok, many minds like mine. I like it. But is there a rule? I don't see one...

I think that goes along with the altered art rule. It's fine as long as its the same weight and feel it was before defacing it.

Same ruling as altering cards. I don't like the white edges. They bug the crap out of me. A lot of people at my old lgs were the same.
