Is {Oblivion Ring} able to target creatures with hexproof ({Geist of Saint Traft}) or protection from white/colors/everything ({Emrakul, the Aeons Torn})? I thought I read somewhere that because of o rings wording, it was. Am I just imagining things or is that true?
Also wondering about {Fiend Hunter}'s ability if so.
It is not able to target hexproof permanents, because it says "target", and hexproof = can't be the TARGET of spells and abilities an opponent controls.
Emrakul, however, can be targeted by an o ring. This is because he says "can't be the target of colored spells". Oblivion Ring only targets when it enters the battlefield, not when it is cast. So it is not a spell when it targets him.
The same goes for fiend hunter ;)

One of these days you wont beat me to it...but not today.
Alright thanks! I knew I had read something about protection or hexproof, but I couldn't remember which one it was
Should be noted (just in case) that things with protection from white are safe from oblivion ring. Oblivion ring may not be a spell anymore when it targets, getting around Emrakul's weird protection, but the ring is still white, so something protected from white is still unable to be targeted.
And {Progenitus} and his protection from everything is safe too - only stuff that doesn't target at all and doesn't do damage can get to him. (Essentially.)
Negative Gorzo, O ring can target ability is colorless
