Title: MTG Movie/TV Series
Post by: Livingroomoflife on December 30, 2012, 01:58:52 PM
I'm looking at producing/writing a series or film based on the game - I'm thinking of focusing on the main Planeswalkers, maybe even just Jace.

What stories do you feel are most important? Who's your favorite planeswalker? What planes are most important to you?

Dominaria is the place to be.  I was always fond of Urza and his story. Just a thought.

If you are doing a tv series it might me good to start with the first books and work your way through in a chronological order.
A movie series hiwever, can start wherever and jump around as it fits into the story.

If its good and does the story justice then it may indeed be incredibly popular. There are so many possibities if you take this on, so good luck. :)

Know your copywrite laws, too. Eminent domain will only get you so far ;)

A simple fan-fiction likely won't ruffle any feathers as long as you include the appropriate legal disclaimers, but if you're planning on publishing anything, make sure you understand the legalities involved.

I'm fond of dominaria too - esp since its where most of the story takes place, and there's the most space for adding new stuff.

I'm thinking wizards might be more interested in promoting the key figures that are making them money right now - eg the big Planeswalkers.

A tv series based on Ravnica just seems obvious - it's so huge and has so much potential for a miniseries.

What are people's thoughts on animated versus live action?

Glad you think so Wally - I definitely want to see the original book series as films. "Arena" would be so awesome as a movie...

I was thinking Of writing a story were niv-mizzet is the protagonist. And nicol-bolas is the antagonist. And that part of the reason he wants to be all knowing is to find a way to kill nicol bolas. And try doing jace, Lilliana, Chandra, Garruk, and Anjnai.
