Title: Clock of Omens
Post by: BrosEler123 on December 17, 2012, 03:02:12 AM
If I have 2 {Gilded Lotus} on the battle field, along with a  {Clock of Omens}. Can I tap two of them for 6 mana and then gain another 3? Is that how it works?

You would not be able to do that, as to get the 6 mana you need to tap them, and to untap an artifact you need to tap 2 artifacts that aren't tapped. You could tap any untapped artifact however, including  {Clock of Omens}

Basically, when you tap something you can only tap it for 1 thing. No double dipping. I can't attack AND tap to destroy a creature with {Avatar of Woe}.

Lets break it down this way.

You have {Gilded Lotus} A, Gilded Lotus B, and {Clock of Omens} on the battlefield.

If you tap both lotus A and B, you have 6 mana.

But alas, the clock requires 2 artifacts to tap to untap a lotus! It can tap itself for 1 but needs another untapped artifact on the field in order to tap it and itself to untap lotus A.

If you had that 4th, extra artifact, you could do this, then tap lotus A again for 3 more mana, leaving you with 9 total.

But without that 4th artifact you could either tap A&B for 6, or tap A for 3, then use the clock to tap The clock and B to untap A, tap A again for 3 more, which leaves you with 6 again (kind of pointless).
