Title: How would this resolve?
Post by: Mactitioner on December 11, 2012, 09:38:57 PM
Assuming I have the mana to make this work...

1.) Cast  {Mark of Mutiny}

2.) Once I have my opponents creature I cast  {Switcheroo}

... would this give me two of my opponents creatures at the end of my turn?

What two creatures are you targeting with {Switcheroo}?

the one I took from them using Mark of Mutiny and just another one of their random guys

Okay. So at the end of your turn, you will have only the creature you got from {Switcheroo}, since you gave the one you got from {Mark of Mutiny} back to the other player as part of the resolution of {Switcheroo}.

But wouldn't Mark of Mutiny "Gain control of target creature until end of turn" still be on it when I used Switcheroo? ... so at that point the player would lose the +1+1 Counter and give me the creature?

The "until end of turn" clause just states how long ou can have it for. If you give it away before that time, it doesn't effect anything.

Oh and it keeps that couter btw. Counters stay on permanents even if they change sides of the battlefield (who controls them). The only thing that causes counters to be removed as a state based action is if a permanent changes zones.

what if I play  {Mark of Mutiny} then play  {Cloudshift} do i get to keep the creature then? (cloudshift) targeting the creature I just stole.

You could keep it but you wouldn't be able to take their creature since you couldn't exchange control

Yes you will keep it. This is because when a perpanent changes zones, it is a brand new object, with no memory of what it used to be. As far as the game is concerned, that creature is yours forever! :)
