Title: Lashknife Barrier, Leyline of Punishment
Post by: Jroch314 on December 11, 2012, 03:27:00 AM
Does {Lashknife barrier} prevent the damage? Or is it . . . A replacement effect? Asking for the instance of {Leyline of Punishment}

It is a replacement effect. It doesn't prevent the damage, it simply reduces it. It will get around the leyline.

No problem 👍
Prevention effects will say "prevent" on the card (off the top of my head, {Reinforced Bulwark}).

What threw me for a loop is that I know {Beacon of Immortality} is life gain even tho it doesn't say "gain" on it

You can usually tell if simehin is a replacement effect if it says the words "if" and/or "instead."
