Title: Controll legacy?
Post by: Richardalcala on December 07, 2012, 09:51:38 PM
Does every controll in legacy? I have no problem with the creature based decks but the controll kicks my but.

I think I need to bait em with {silence} before I play an important spell to get it FOW or {spell snare} or something.

Unfortunately {Daze}, {Spell Snare} and {Force of Will} will always exist, because without them other card would get far too out of hand.

Still don't understand how {mental misstep} is banned with all the other crazy spells.

Phyrexian mana lets any deck, any color play it. That's all there is to it. In fast formats like legacy and modern, there are lots of 1-drops, and letting any deck counter them for a measly 2 life even when tapped out is just too much.

I disagree I think it would balance out controll and give the other decks a chance. There is so much combo in that format I just don't see it being that big of deal.

I have to agree with richard. If blue is the only deck that gets all the control then there is perhaps no chance for any other legacy deck to beat control. At least if you have mental misstep you can save a few of your important spells from being countered.

They tried it. Then the expected happened. Every single deck ran it. Most legacy decks don't have a reason to even run counterspells. Combo decks already do well, by having {force of will} it makes combo decks approach things differently. If a combo decks runs into RDW, they don't main board certain spells because they may run into FoW.
