Title: Legal Random Destruction
Post by: Imdowd80 on December 03, 2012, 12:05:32 AM
What is the legal tournament way to "randomly" destroy things?

Gather up the cards that can potentially be destroyed. Then shuffle them together so that they are sufficiently randomized, according to WOTC rules. Have the player who did not cause the destroy effect pick a any card from the pile, face down. Offen they will be fanned out so it is easier to pick.

That seems like a pain when dealing with equipment and auras.

It's the only way to truly randomize what gets destroyed. It may sound like a painstaking process on paper, but in an actual game it doesn't really take that long. Just remember who controls what if multiple players' permanents can potentially be destroyed.

Better way. Clearly asign values and roll a die until you hit a relevant value. So "randomly sac a land" you have 5 lands in play, my right is number one my left is number five reroll on 6.
