Title: Thragy or Bonfire
Post by: Killin88 on December 02, 2012, 10:36:34 PM

While {Thragtusk} is in every stupid deck ever now, meta is shifting towards aggro, since it gets in before Thragtusk hits. I'd say that {Bonfire of the Damned} going forward will have more play, but neither seem to have legacy appeal, so I think their price upon rotation will be a fraction

While neither have legacy appeal they will both thrive in Modern and Extended, so I don't see the price dropping to a fraction; maybe halved.

If you're wanting retaining value, get all of the shock lands.

{huntsmaster of the fells} a friend sold them to me at 15 each, they might double. Naya will be crazy good

Tough call, both change the game and are easily splashable. I would probably go with bonfire though because it seems it would have more applications in other formats post-rotation.

Oh and bonfire will for sure drop less than thragtusk because of:
Mythic rarity
Not in 2 event decks

I will second this.

Agree with the shocks, but bonfire is such a win condition I'd have a tough time passing up a playset.

All of you seems to be so sure that Thraggy will rotate... On ur place I would not be so sure... I suspect that he will be with us another one season...:)

On ur place I would invest to shocklands... It was a good suggestion...

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are more people hoping he isn't reprinted than there are people hoping he is. Particularly the judges. They must be sick of seeing him every game.

{Bonfire of the Damned} is less likely to get reprinted I think because of the AVR specific mechanic it uses (Miracle).  {Thragtusk} maybe though.

This. As people stop opening inn his value will raise. He also benefits from an increased card pool in the coming months.

I would bet {Thragtusk} will be reprinted in M14...;) but of course most people hope he will not be...:D

Not to mention the speculation that he will remain high in value after rotation as he is a legacy and modern staple. Thrag and bonfire will doubtful stay anywhere near as high as snappy.

No they will fall deeep...:D

And snappy is also good investment... But still guess shock lands is bit better investment...

Snapcaster seeing play in "faster" formats like Modern and legacy, whereas right now bonfire and thragtusk are not being used, should speak towards Snap's ability to hold his value. Likely better than the other two down the long run. I'm sure all 3 will always find play somewhere, but it looks like snapcaster is most likely to remain in competitive formats.
