Title: Curse of the Safe World
Post by: Desolatus on December 01, 2012, 03:46:18 PM
Curse of the Safe World

60 cards, 0 sideboard

3 {Plains}
1 {Forest}
4 {Woodland Cemetery}
4 {Overgrown Tomb}
4 {Sunpetal Grove}
4 {Temple Garden}
4 {Isolated Chapel}

24 lands

4 {Arbor Elf}
2 {Borderland Ranger}
4 {Centaur Healer}
2 {Worldspine Wurm}

12 creatures

2 {Sorin, Lord of Innistrad}
2 {Curse of Misfortunes}
1 {Curse of Exhaustion}
2 {Arrest}
3 {Oblivion Ring}
3 {Farseek}
2 {Guilded Lotus}
2 {Terminus}
4 {Sphere of Safety}
2 {Underworld Connections}
1 {Curse of Thirst}

24 other spells

Sideboard

Notes:
This is a deck based around enchanting and cursing the opponent into stasis with Curse of Misfortunes and Sphere of Safety. Worldspine Worm is the win condition, and is dug out by using Garruk to draw cards. Sorin is in to make blockers in case I need them, make my blockers bigger, and take out their threats. I haven't decided on a sideboard yet, but I would love some ideas. Any help to make this deck better while keeping the main idea would be really appreciated! Thank you! -Deso

Looks like a lot of fun. Only thing I can suggest is to add more draw/deck thinning.  {Increasing Ambition}  {Liliana of the Dark Realms}  {Diabolic Revelation} {underworld commections} and {far seek} to help pull thru your deck. Also might want to look into mana dorks  {Arbor Elf}  {Avacyn's Pilgrim} to get your curses out a few turns faster.

Sideboard should be  {Mutilate}  {Fog} {Rest in Peace} and such.

If you expect to ever cast world spine, probably run 24-25 lands

Yup didn't even see that. 25 seems right. Also  {Gilded Lotus} can help a lot when casting big tickets.

With 22 lands and no ramp, you might want to consider more lands with so many high CMC spells. Cool idea/decklost though. Looks really neat.

I like how curse of misfortunes works with sphere of safetey.

Maybe something more like this. Just a suggestion of course. Btw, underworld still counts and an enchantment. :)

Wow, I really wasn't expecting a quick response like that. Let me update a little.

What do you think of {Axebane Guardian} and other defenders for mana?

Ax and can be great alongside things like  {Tree of Redemption}.

Updated! Please, keep the ideas coming. I want to make this to play this guy at my LGS that net-decks and takes even the smallest tournaments too seriously. Total Spike.

I just realized that {Jarad's Orders} works perfectly in this deck. I search for the creature I need and {Worldspine Wurm} and get my creature while Worldspine shuffles back in!

That's pretty cool indeed. I'd say it warrants spots in the SB. Along with  {Ethereal Armor} and  {Lingering Souls} and {strangleroot giest} to go a more aggro route.
