Making this for a new play group I'm in. Most of the players are new. So I didn't want to do any fast game ending combos. Let me know what you think and if there's anything I should add and take out for. I don't have much experience with this format. So any advice would be helpful. |

I am concerned about bloodbraid elf here. How many things. Tilley cost less than him? You don't want to flip twenty cards looking for a three cost and lose a lot of potential advantage from bigger threats that cascade passed by

You don't want combos that win early and you use Niv-Mizzett and curiosity...lol

He's not going to get them consistently and he doesn't *have* to combo off if he gets them. It's the same reason I keep Kiki/Pestermite in my Animar deck, to win if I get lucky and I'm playing against a jerk.
Quote from: Keyeto on December 03, 2012, 06:55:23 PMThe meta is just starting with my play group, but there is already a mono white {Odric, Master Tactician} deck, there will be a mono red deck built around {Krenko, Mob Boss}, there's a junk deck built around {Karador, Ghost Chieftain} mostly kill and big creatures, soon there will be a GB {Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord}, and a mono black {Relentless Rats} deck now that I think about it I'm gonna need some more field wipes. What do you recommend I take out.
What kind of decks are you up against? Commander is a format that can be pretty heavy on your meta. You can make some pretty cool combos by bouncing your own commander and recasting it. For example, get {Omniscience} out, and have a card like {Roaring Primadox} or {Stampeding Wildebeasts} out. Each turn you can keep double cascading for no cost! It's not terribly game breaking since it takes some setup, but can get pretty deadly. If you go with combos like that, {Warstorm Surge} could really start to do some damage to your opponents (or their creatures), especially if you start adding some more fatties in there. If you find yourself in need of more removal, {Savage Twister} and {Chain Reaction} can work well.
Quote from: ChrisRodriguez on December 03, 2012, 08:25:48 PMUnless I'm overlooking something here, I'm not seeing a lot of application for {Conjurer's Closet} or {Library of Leng}. In commander, consistency is pretty important, so if it isn't working towards your cause, it can easily end up as a dead card in your hand. Other than those, it'll take a few duels to figure out what cards are and aren't working. It seems everytime I take out a card, the next duel shows me why it was in there. Go through some games, figure out what does and doesn't work, and go from there. Wish I could give a more straightforward answer, but I hope this helped.Quote from: Keyeto on December 03, 2012, 06:55:23 PMThe meta is just starting with my play group, but there is already a mono white {Odric, Master Tactician} deck, there will be a mono red deck built around {Krenko, Mob Boss}, there's a junk deck built around {Karador, Ghost Chieftain} mostly kill and big creatures, soon there will be a GB {Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord}, and a mono black {Relentless Rats} deck now that I think about it I'm gonna need some more field wipes.
