Title: Silverheart The Simic
Post by: Killin88 on November 28, 2012, 09:09:08 AM
Do you think he will go up? I was planning on making a simic deck and his ability seems quite powerful by pairing him with a 0/0 counter living creature, then moving the counters to wolfir making him 8/8+some and having ( if they release one ) a creature that gives creatures with +1/+1 counters trample

I don't know if he will go up but he is still wicked powerful. He's an 8/8 for 5 with a  {Blessings of Nature} built in. Simic will get more land to support but you already have unblockable creatures to pair up with wolfir... I think it'll only get better.

There's nothing to say the new simic will have the same ability as the old simic.

Who knows!
Simic as the colors are now, yes. What they'll be with all five new guilds out? Not even a fortune teller can see!

To play against or to play as? What do you mean?

To play against. Because of {Thragtusk}. Thraggy+counterspells will be a trash environment. You can do it now with {hinderland harbor}, once {Breeding Pool} enters the mix

Edit: I've been brewing a Midrange {G}{U}{W} deck that is ready to explode with better mana fixing. I think the meta will almost instantly respond to this. Everything is going extreme aggro, because those decks get in before {Thragtusk}. Fast aggro decks like {B}{R} Zombies and Azorius Aggro are top 10ing more then ever. Once a good control deck with {Supreme Verdict}, {Terminus} and counters can control the board till {Thragtusk} hits will be monsters.

This is obviously pending a Thraggy hoser.

"We decided to reprint {Torpor orb}, sorry azurios!"

First off simic will not have the same ability. However all new abilities are supposed to work well with the old ones, so it is sure to involve +1/+1 counters in some way. This also makes sense with undying currenty legal, a way to put a counter on an opponent's creature could be very powerful depending on the adjacent effects.

Dudecore, good foresight. I also anticipate some serious mill and combo decks to emerge with dimir and simic in the mix.

Finally on {thragtusk}. With that new dragon i excpect to see an anti thragtroll artifact. Perhaps like a differntly worded {pithing needle} or {torpor orb}. I can garuntee it will not shut down an entire RtR mechanic though.

{Nevermore} does it, I also expect an artifact similar to Nevermore, so that everyone has an answer to it.

By the same accord, they tried to hose {Snapcaster Mage} with {Grafdigger's Cage}, {Ash Zealot}, {Dryad Milliant}, {Rest jn Peace}, reprinting {Tormod's Crypt}, {Ground Seal}
