Title: Phases
Post by: Trunksthemighty on November 22, 2012, 09:43:22 PM
On each players turn do you have to go through each phase? Or can you skip phases?

Each player goes through each phase on their respective turns, unless a card effect says otherwise.

Technically this is true, but many players skip phases that are not needed at the time. Depends on ur playgroup

True, but even if a player does nothing during phases, for the sake of effects and such, all phases still technically occur.

Okay because I was playing against someone with  {Desecration Demon} and they said they skip their battle phase so I couldn't sac a creature they layed a  {Stab Wound} on.

Even if they do nothing in their battle phase, the phase still does happen. Think of how many effects you could get around if you just decided to skip your upkeep. You would be able to sac your creature.

This is correct. Didn't mean to cause confusion, just didn't know if you were asking the question bc of specific effects in phases, or if you literally have to go thru the motions of every phase on every turn.

It's all good, I was just trying to make sure your statement wasn't confused or taken the wrong way.
