Title: Phantom Centaur, Banshee's Blade
Post by: Malleo on November 21, 2012, 04:01:33 PM
So if I play  {Phantom Centaur} and attach  {Banshee's Blade} and attacked with it twice, if all of its counters are gone does that mean it never takes damage or do I have to remove a counter for that to work

Phantom centaur requires you to remove a counter (cost) to prevent the damage to him (effect).  If you don't have any counters on him to pay the cost, you can't get the effect.

But it would still work on my friend's black vampire deck

3rd ruling in phantom centaurs rulings says that even if there are no counters on him damage is still prevented, as long as something keeps his toughness above zero.

RESOLVED

You're right, my mistake! I should have probably read the card a little closer. There's no cost:effect colon. My apologies, Jroch is correct! Damage is prevented, counters or no counters. Then, if counters are present, one is removed.

You don't have to buy them, they are also on gathering.

I love the old phantom creatures. I've actually just added 2  {Phantom Nishoba} to my old phantom deck
