Title: Turn 3 Unlimited Mana
Post by: KulrathKnight on November 19, 2012, 09:38:38 AM
Without ramping, {Sapphire Medallion}, {Snap}, and {Memnite}/{Ornithoptor}/{Any zero-drop creature} yields unlimited mana on turn 3. Use your imagination for turning this into turn 1 and 2 combos ;)

T1 black blue or red source land tapped or untapped.
T2 land that produces one of the other 2 colors mentioned so that you have a blaksource. {heartless summoning}
T3 land so you have all 3 mentioned colors, {priest of urabrask} add 3 red while you still have blue land and black land untapped, tap both and use a red to cast {havengul lich} use a red for his ability on the priest and use the last red to cast priest gaining 3 red which you use to do it again and again.
Infinite red turn 3 formerly in standard.

Everyone give it up for kaleo for being a genius. I'm not even sure how you possibly thought of that. Reading that was like listening to progressive metal, and saying, "I understand what they're doing.. But how the frick did they think of that?!"

Only problem is there is too much graveyard hate by turn three that your opponent will most likely have out on their turn two so when you try to go combo turn three ur screwed.

You need a sac engine for this to work. You can't cast priest out of your graveyard, if you already cast him out if your graveyard and put him into play.

Lol I forgot snap in grave. I should have added {Isochron Scepter} to that, and even then it won't work. Man I am losing it.

To how i thought of this? I devoted 4 months to that archetype and pioneered many innovations around it at my LGS in that tine. These included "bonfire for a billion" instead of using the {perilous myr}, using {tamiyo, the moon sage} in tandem with {frost titan} and cloning creatures to lock my opponent down to one or two lands by turn 5 or 6, dropping turn three {thundermaw hellkite} with two {phyrexian metamorph} or {inferno titan} with one metamorph, or my on the spot creation of {rune-scarred demon} search cloner search cloner search cloner search {urabrask, the hidden} and swing with 4 demons and a praetor.

As for the graveyard hate comments, i side boarded the combo pieces to lower numbers game two if i suspected they would actually have an answer early enough and leaned more toward amazing board presence to counter the fact my opponent weakened their board presence due to overwhelming fear of the combo. I T3'd bonfire for a billion 5 times in tournements, two at a PTQ, and the rest were during game day tournies.
