Example:
2 {ash zealot}s in play. Opponent casts {detention sphere} targeting {ash zealot} 1. I {faith's shield} in response. Does {ash zealot} # 2 get exiled or are they both saved?
Sphere needs the initial target both zealots are safe.
I'd say they are safe. Since the sphere doesn't resolve on the first one due to the protection, it will fizzle.
Right on! Thanks guys!
Remember {detention sphere} only targets one thing. When it's ability resolves it checks for other perminents ofthe same name and takes them too. This is also important due to hexproof and shroud senerios, if say two {runeclaw bear} are in play and one has {whispersilk cloak} on it, the other can still be targetted and will still take both if the ability resolves.

However in the aforementioned scenario the d sphere has no target as the the original has been given hexproof or protection or what have you. This means that the d sphere fizzles the same way an o ring would if you cloudshifted it's target
