Title: Deadbridge Goliath
Post by: Disturbed1jwh on November 11, 2012, 08:41:41 AM
So who here thinks that  {Deadbridge Goliath} is really awsome. I love it that its on a 4 CMC 5/5 body. Granted its a double G card but I still love it.  I love slapping a  {Rancor} on this buggy.

It's a 5/5 Vanilla for {2}{G}{G}. There are better ways to spend that mana.

It's pretty good. 5/5 for 4 mana is quite above the curve, and the playable scavenge cost makes it useful even if it gets removed. It's no thragtusk, but its a good card.

Make a slumbering dragon scavenge deck. He wins.

I'm working him into a golgari aggro deck with  {Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord}

I like {Boarderland Ranger} for 3, or {Huntmaster of the Fells} at 4 with a splash of red or {Desecration Demon} in Golgari. He's a 6/6 flyer with a condition, still like em more.

I feel like the {desecration demon} is underplayed. He's so awesome.

Want to make mono-Black, but I have a year, I'm having fun with my zombies

He breaks the cardinal rule of letting your oppenent choose for you, on whether he is tapped or not.

But he makes them sac creatures and he gets bigger. I don't see how that's a bad thing. And besides, I've {fling}ed or {essence havest}ed him more often than I've been able to attack with him.

It's a sad time for mono decks :(

One thing to remember about the demon is if you have him out and plan to block with him when your oppent enters combat they can sac a creature to remove that option.

Cards that don't have abilities, i believe. Like {trained ogre}. Even though the card in question has an ability.

Just the scavenge ability combined with  {Corpsejack Menace} is awsome. The demon and jack combo won me a couple games at the pre-release. Love that lil demon 👍

I have a foil playset. Doesn't fit in the decks I run, but it's pretty awesome in golgari.

I personally love the Goliath.  A 5/5 for 4 is decent, then you just slap 5 +1/+1's on an even bigger creature late game.

The prospect of using a vanilla 5/5 isn't great, but his mid-late game advantage is awesome.  Sure, {Dreg Mangler} can be dropped T3 and hase haste, but you'd be scavenging 3 counters for six rather than 5.  Or you can wait a turn and drop a 5/5 rather than a 3/3 haste.  Then scavenge for six.

They run out of creatures to sac for d demon?  Just scavenge and swing!

Just for the record...Vanilla beans are black. In culinary uses, it is usually dissolved in alcohol into a clear liquid called "extract." This liquid has all the flavor, but no color, so when used to flavor things like cake or ice cream, the color remains the white of the original product. Occasionally, especially in ice cream, you can see a ton of black flecks in your vanilla ice cream - those black flecks are vanilla bean bits, because the chef used a higher grade of extract called vanilla bean paste. It's a black-brown thick syrupy goo that smells like heaven, as opposed to a clear watery liquid that only smells amazing.

Sorry, the baker in me couldn't let that go lol
