Title: Wtf?!? Liege of the tangle
Post by: Infestormort on November 03, 2012, 02:27:26 AM
So I'm playing casual and I've found  {Liege of the Tangle}.
Let me check on this.... So I could potentially let all my lands become 8/8s?
So if my opponent blocks a land/8/8 elemental and destroys it with clever shenanigans does it go to the graveyard or just back to being a plain old land? Losing its awakening counter?

As a creature that's killed, it goes to graveyard

Haha I would love to do that to somebody.
"Ok all my lands are now 8/8 creatures, I attack"
"Fog"
"Ok ok, that's fine I'll get you next turn"
"Wrath"
"Balls..."

That's why I keep a playset of {life from the loam} and {asuza lost but seeking} in a deck like that and hold on to two mana if I can in my hand

{Sever the bloodline} - liege of the tangle user's worst nightmare.

Whenever something becomes a creature, it becomes subject to all of the abuse, removal, and horrid things that we can do to creatures. That's the trade-off ;)

Tell me about it. I used a  {Natural Emergence} in a multiplayer and one of my opponents used  {Day of Judgment} on me

I don't think it can be done with liege of the tangle, because of the weird way his ability works. Even if you move the awakening counters to an opponent's land, they do not become creatures because they were not targeted by the Leige (its in leige's rulings).

There is at least one way to animate all lands or your opponents lands, but I don't remember the card names. Makes them 1/1s or 2/2s though, I remember that much.

Doesn't this mean all lands including your opponents lands become 2/2 flying creatures as well?  They don't have haste so they can't attack right?

{Natural Affinity} doesn't grant flying. If the land was played that turn then it has summoning sickness. Any lands that you have controlled since the start of your turn do not have summoning sickness and can attack.

That's the one, thanks kulrath!

Lands will follow the same summoning sickness rules after animation as any other creature - as long as they have been under your control at the beginning of your turn, they may tap and attack. So you and your opponents can attack with any/all lands on the same turn as {Natural Affinity} is played, so long as you controlled that land before your upkeep (aka all lands you didn't play that turn)

Lands don't have summoning sickness. There are a couple of 'lands become creature' spells on DoTP, and they don't come in with sickness.

While it is true lands don't have summoning sickness, once they become creatures they will if they have not been under your control since your most recent turn began.

See Gorzo's comment further up, he's explained it better than me. The creatures do not have summoning sickness unless the land was played that turn.
