I was about to make a thread too. All fetch lands have gone up a lot. I almost bought a playset of  {Scalding Tarn} for $14 each a few weeks ago but I held off. Big mistake!

The return of the Ravnica shock lands, most likely. The fetch ones like Misty can grab them.
I know I use them in my edh decks lol pay 3 life turn one to search out an  {Overgrown Tomb} Untap it and play a  {Sensei's Divining Top} and use it pass lmao people hate my edh deck

You are only partially correct. There are also several other reasons.

1) Blue lands are always higher than others. If you did not get them when they were $17-18 then you missed out big time. They were worth way more than that.
2) Modern Master will not cover Zendikar, no foreseeable reprints in the future.
3) Demand went up when the deck that won Pro Tour Return to Ravnica played 2 Mistys and 2 Tarns
4) Zendikar is now 3 years old. Return to Ravnica was another explosion for the playerbase. Returning veterans and new players alike do not own these cards.

Well, the question was regarding the sudden increase in price... so #3 and #4 make sense. But why would the first two account for that?

Another theory I have would be that RtR had greatly bolstered the viability of 2-color builds (much like the previous Ravnica block). There are also many cards like the charms and guildmages that are powerful, low cost, but very exacting on their mana cost ({U}{R}, for instance).

Fetch lands allow you to get EXACTLY the necessary colors, without costing you a turn.

Number one states that blue lands are always worth money.  It does not get any simpler than this explanation. Two, people have been holding off with the announcement of more reprints. Now that it has been confirmed the reprint set does not have them, the demand to obtain them went up. Furthermore, Modern season starts soon. This is another reason for rise in demand.

They went up because of Modern. The fact that RTR has Shock Lands has nothing to do with it, Shock Lands were already a part of Modern. Gaara nailed it in the explanations of price increase.

I seen this coming.  I literally finished playsets of all the Zendikar fetch lands just a few weeks ago.  The main reason rainforest and tarn are $30 is they can fetch {U}.  Blue is the primary color in legacy and modern is pretty close to the same.
