Hi all. I'm very new to M:tG. Played a couple of games to learn the rules. Now trying to attempt building a deck. This is what I have come up with. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
2 {Evolving Wilds}
8 {Forest}
2 {Golgari Guildgate}
8 {Swamp}
2 {Woodland Cemetery}
22 lands
2 {Slitherhead}
2 {Daggerdrome Imp}
4 {Drudge Beetle}
2 {Korozda Guildmage}
2 {Dreg Mangler}
2 {Mwonvuli Beast Tracker}
3 {Vampire Nighthawk}
2 {Yeva's Forcemage}
1 {Corpsejack Menace}
1 {Deadbridge Goliath}
1 {Yeva, Nature's Herald}
1 {Silklash Spider}
1 {Thragtusk}
1 {Wolfir Silverheart}
25 creatures
2 {Rancor}
4 {Tragic Slip}
2 {Golgari Charm}
1 {Ultimate Price}
2 {Victim of Night}
1 {Chromatic Lantern}
1 {Vraska the Unseen}
13 other spells
The idea was that once I got Corpsejack out I could start using Scavenge to bulk up my Nighthawks and Imps. Then use Rancour as well invade they have fliers. Kordoza is there to help get more +1/+1 counters quickly. Any suggestions to help out a new player would be greatly appreciated.
Are you on a budget? If you're not there are plenty of great BG builds here on this app and online you can follow. Just as a general guideline though, make sure your deck is always exactly 60 cards, and have as many 4-ofs as possible; Having only 1 Corpsejack means you won't be drawing him much. I'd look into Zombies. They are by far the most successful build for BG
Also the Kordoza guildmage doesn't give +1/+1 counters, it just gives it until the end of turn. Nevertheless it's pretty good because it also gives intimidate
This looks good, never be afraid to have 1-ofs. The more balanced a deck is, the less 4-ofs there will be. Though in competitive standard, you will definitely need to still have a lot of 4-ofs.
I suggest deciding whether you want your deck to be fast or slow. If you want it to be fast, put in a lot of cards that can deal damage quickly, like the {Dredge Mangler}s you have in there. If you want it to be slower, add more {Thragtusk}s and other cards that help you later in the game.
I think that no matter what you do, vraska as a 1-of should stay. It seems like a safeguard against control and especially midrange decks, yet doesn't slow your own deck down too much.
Welcome to M:tG and welcome to iMTG ;D
I agree with coffee. {Dreg Mangler} and {Thragtusk} mixed with some other Zombies might be a pretty viable build. You may be onto something dude! I may try and put something together {Corpsejack Menace} I think can be underestimated!
Thanks for the help so far guys. I'll go over it again and look into Zombies as well. From what I can tell, the deck I'm going for is pretty slow with Corpsejack wanting to pile up the +1/+1 counters. I think I need to add in a few cheaper creatures to get some early game blocks. I was also wondering, would it be worth it to add in Jarad?

You are the best deck helper ever and make the best decks, you have also helped me many times
I'll bump my B/G Zombies build, it's called "Graverot", it's what I made after RTR dropped, it's pretty solid, almost won me Game Day, there are a few cards in there that may help you get started on solidifying this guy.
FYI: I dig the deck, you're running {Vampire Nighthawk}, he's one of my favorites 😁
