Title: My head hurts!
Post by: Leonidus78 on October 30, 2012, 10:25:49 AM
<sublime archangel> + <nature's revolt> + <mirrorweave>
I don't have time to calculate how much damage that could add up to.

Apparently my head hurts worse than I thought. {sublime archangel} + {nature's revolt} + {mirrorweave}

Seems pretty legit and not too hard to accomplish in a bant deck.

Or even trusty ol' {rancor}. And I agree, this is a great combo!

I really want to see someone rancor a basic land and swing it for lethal now.

That won't stop trample, guy. 😉
How does it not stop trample? Trample damage only gets through if lethal damage is applied,  {Fog Bank} prevents all damage dealt and so there is no lethal and therefore no trample can get past. Or am I wrong?

You need only assign damage with a trampler that would be lethal (equal to toughness). Fog Bank's toughness is 2. During the declare Blocks phase, once fog bank is declared as a blocker, the attacking player assigns how his creature will deal its damage. A trampler will assign 2 damage to fog bank, and the rest trampling to the defending player. Then, during the combat damage phase, the 2 damage to fog bank will be prevented, but nothing is preventing the trample damage hitting the player. It tramples through.

I am curious, wouldn't all the opponent's lands & creatures just follow suit?{Mirrorweave} & {nature's revolt} apply to all creatures) so wouldn't they just block with a similarly exalted angel assuming they have anywhere near the same amounts of lands and/or creatures?

Exalted only applies to the one attacking creature. Even if he blocked with all off his mirroreweaved 3/4 flying creatures and lands, the insane exalted bonus on the attacker will kill them all, very likely with enough left over to trample for lethal if given something like rancor.

Too bad exalted triggers during the declare attack step, imagine if you could do this trick after blocks were declared!

You can also {sever the bloodline} your opponent's lands if he foils your attack... I may well have to build a junk deck out of this
