Title: Animar and apocalypse = ?

{animar, soul of the elements} {apocalypse hydra}
Okay so animar gets those counters that reduce the cost of creature spells. My question: animar has say 10 counters, I go to cast apocalypse hydra and chose x to be 12, does animar reduce it so I only pay {2}{R}{G}?
