{Bonfire of the Dammed} vs {Mizzium Morters}
I personally side with Mizzium because it is easier to use.
What are you opinions and why?
Keep it nice.
Both r very good cards and both have their specific uses and are better suited for different deck types. But over all I like mortars just cause they r not as expensive as bonfire
aw, man, I was ready to come to blows over these two cards.
Bonfire is better in more cases than Mizzium is.

Bonfire can hit the player as well as their creatures and can deal any amount of damage. Although why you'd cast it for 1,2,or 3 is beyond me...

Kind of what I was thinking. Mizzium is limited to 4 damage while Bonfire can blow the hell out of everything for as much as you can afford. Mizzium is a very nice card to use against token decks that just swarm tokens. Entreat for 30? Mizzium Mortars. Wurms seem to be one of the few tokens able to survive Mizzium.
Tl;dr
It's a hard question and they're both good :P
I would say situational. Both are awesome.
My love goes to bonfire. It's not as flexible, but it hits the player too. And if you're lucky and get the miracle...oh happy day!
{witchbane orb} stops bonfire dead though, so I gotta go with mortars
I am not a firm believer in placing one card's value above another because of other cards. So witchbane stops bonfire. Naturalize stops witchbane. Negate stops naturalize. The list continues. Whatever.
When comparring cards, many make the mistake of comparring them as unresolved spells or cards in hand. To get the most accurate comparison results, you must compare one spell's RESOLUTION to the other spell's RESOLUTION.
Of course bonfire isn't good if it can't resolve. No spells are good if they never get to resolve! Same with mizzium, jace, black lotus, ETC.!
Rant over. I think that while they both have their uses, bonfire is supreme. Here is why:
- Bonfire can be cast at instant speed, while the only way to cast mizzium at instant speed is {Hypersonic Dragon}, which also allows bonfire to be cast at instant speed normally.
- Bonfire is more versatile. Mizzium is too, but not as much. Let's take a loot at what mizzium can do. It can:
Deal 4 to a creature
Or it can deal 4 to every creature that you do not control
...a very vrsatile card. But look at bonfire. It can:
Deal any amount of damage to all creatures that you do not control
It can hit players
It can bit plainswalkers
Now that we see the differences, look at both in the opening hand and in drawing.
Miszium:
- Can deal 4 damage to a creature by turn 2. Until turn 5 this functions like a go for the throat or foom blade, because creatures are weaker.
- When drawn late game, it serves as a 1 sided boardwipe, IF yiu have 3 red.
Bonfire:
- When in the opening hand, it can function just like a {Black Sun's Zenith} on turn 3. This gets rid of mana dorks, tokens, and 1-2/1s. Very useful. However it cannot be used for 2 mana until turn 5. This is its main disadvantage.
In late game drawing, bonfite can serve as a finisher and a boardwipe. Nuff said.
In conclusion, bonfire does come out on top because of the value and potential it brings to any deck. Mizzium must wait until turn 6 to act like mass removal, while bonfire acts like a board wipe + burn always.
Bonfire is more versatile, though they are both flexible cards. I recomend running up to 4 bonfires in any control decks with red and 2-3 in a more midrange type. Miszium combined with bonfire can prove to be a deadly combo, with mizzium for early spot removal, and bonfire for late, with miz to back it up.

Salamon would be pleased by your logical and accurate judgement...:D
